Affordable Housing Trust

The Municipal Affordable Housing Trust, as authorized by Massachusetts General Laws chapter 44, Section 55C, was established by Article 22 of the May 15, 2012 Annual Town Meeting (PDF). A town may appropriate funds from the Community Preservation Fund to an affordable housing trust, as authorized by Mass. Gen. Laws chapter 44B, Section 5(f). The Trust was initially funded by Article 23 (PDF) with a $200,000 appropriation from the Community Preservation Fund.
The purpose of the Williamstown Affordable Housing trust shall be to provide for the creation and preservation of affordable housing in Williamstown for the benefit of low and moderate income households.
Declaration of Trust
The Declaration of Trust was approved by the Affordable Housing Trust Fund trustees at their meeting of December 5, 2012, as authorized by the Code of Williamstown, Chapter 6, Section 6-14, which was adopted by Article 22 of the May 15, 2012 Annual Town Meeting (PDF). The declaration of Trust is recorded at the Northern Berkshire Registry of Deeds at Book 1501, Page 747.
AHT Action Plan
The AHT Action Plan was adopted by the Affordable Housing Trust Fund trustees at their meeting of November 7, 2012.
Richard L. DeMayo Mortgage Assistance Program
The Trust approved updated guidelines for the Mortgage Assistance Program (PDF) at their September 9, 2015 meeting.
The Town of Williamstown is requesting proposals from developers for the development of at least one single family home on each of two Town-owned parcels of land, one located on Summer Street and the other at the intersection of Maple Street and Cole Avenue. Proposals are due June 19, 2017.
